It may be inauspicious to start a blog with death, but this is the first time I've felt compelled to express myself online.
This has been a bleak November, with the loss of so many through freak accidents. Each one so full of promise, with plans for the future. 6 of them lost through drowning. As a lifeguard, such deaths affect me even more so.
My heart aches sorely for their loved ones and friends though I didn't know them personally. They had touched many lives and are deeply grieved for. I'd just gotten married this year so I feel especially sad for Eujin's wife. Looking at the photos of their happy moments together left my eyes wet. Life can be truly cruel.
They were all at the prime of their lives - two were my age, one of whom was in the neighbouring class in NYJC. They had passed on while doing the things they loved, and it was hard not to cry as one read the tender tributes to them. They were smart, passionate and multi-talented men who embraced life, who brought joy to others and were loved deeply, as sons, brothers, cousins, team mates and friends. Eujin was a devoted husband and cherished brother-in-law as well.
I hope that all who loved them dearly will find the strength to carry on. It is impossible not to feel anger and sorrow, but may their grieving hearts be healed in time. May those who have left our world in body, live on in spirit and fond memories.
